TechnologyOne’s focus on innovation drives changes to R&D
Australian tech leader TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE) has continued to reinforce its commitment to innovation, introducing its newly created Research and Development (R&D) Evangelist roles.
With the R&D Evangelist role, the Australian tech giant wants to provide more strategic career options for top talent and emerging R&D leaders within the organisation, and empower employees to build an ‘innovation first’ mindset.
This position is just one of several tangible commitments the company is making to innovation and culture, with TechnologyOne investing 20% of annual revenue in R&D each year - well above the industry average, alongside other innovation initiatives such as its quarterly Hack Days.
“Traditionally, IT companies have evangelists for a specific product or software set. However, our R&D Evangelists are tasked with driving innovation throughout the entire company, not only within the R&D team,” explains TechnologyOne’s founder and Executive Chairman, Adrian Di Marco.
“They’re continually engaging with customers, partners, and other industry professionals through various informal and formal processes. This ensures they’re always thinking outside the box about our customers’ needs, the future of technology, and how the company can take advantage of new technological developments.
“The evangelists are just one of the strings in our bow to drive innovation. Our state-of-the-art R&D centre and specific programs foster collaboration, creativity and innovation to provide the platform for our future growth."
The Evangelists are currently working on several projects that explore new technologies such as virtual reality and drones, to discern how they could be incorporated into TechnologyOne’s software.
“The R&D Evangelist role was purposely created to have no boundaries, other than to drive innovation throughout the business and industry. This has led to a range of successes for the business we are incredibly proud of,” adds Mr Di Marco.
“We want to empower employees to think broadly and deeply about our customers’ needs today and into the future. A key priority is providing teams with the tools and environment to realise their ambitions and transform their ideas into actual projects.”
