TechnologyOne establishes ‘centre of excellence’ for project management

TechnologyOne has established a new project office (PO) and appointed ex-Mincom Program Director, Andrew Vellnagel, to oversee the 20 plus strong team.

The appointment and new business unit are part of a broader strategic realignment of the company designed to deliver preconfigured solutions to TechnologyOne's target markets, including all levels of government, health and community services, education, financial services and utilities.

As a ‘centre of excellence' for sophisticated project management skills, the PO signals a shift for the international software provider to refine its culture of project management to ensure all implementations are delivered seamlessly and with minimal impact on customers.

The PO will work closely with the new vertical market solutions team, which is headed up by former Tower CEO Martin Harwood, to ensure customers get the best technology for their needs, implemented in the most efficient and effective manner.

Adrian Di Marco said the establishment of a dedicated PO and the company realignment was about making life easier for TechnologyOne's customers.

"The new project office will ensure TechnologyOne solutions are implemented in a consistent manner using a world class service delivery methodology, no matter where the customer is located or what industry they are in," Mr Di Marco said.

"Specific scenarios have been identified according to how customers buy products - such as an existing customer signing up for a single product upgrade - and a service delivery model with accountability, governance and processes defined for each.  This reduces commercial risk for both us and our customers."

Vellnagel has been in the ICT industry for 22 years and was most recently Program Director for Mincom, where he was responsible for delivering all projects within the Asia Pacific region, and developing and managing all procedures, methodologies, and governance frameworks.

During his 19 years at Mincom, Vellnagel held many different technical, management and consulting roles, and worked in 11 different countries across the government, utilities, defence, mining, and manufacturing industries.

He holds a Bachelor of Business - Computing and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Project Management.

Adrian Di Marco said the company had conducted an extensive search to find the right Project Office Director who also has strong vendor experience.

"This is a key appointment for TechnologyOne as our project office will be responsible for ensuring our customers' solutions meet their objectives and are implemented on time and on budget," Mr Di Marco said.

According to Vellnagel, it was TechnologyOne's visionary approach to providing a ‘centre of excellence' for project management that led him to take on the role of Project Office Director.

"I am excited to be a part of establishing a ‘centre of excellence' for sophisticated project management skills, and am looking forward to working with the highest caliber of project management professionals," he said.
