TechnologyOne continues support of Big Day In series in 2016
TechnologyOne has partnered with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Foundation, to continue its support of the 2016 national BiG Day In™ series.
The BiG Day In™ is an IT careers conference designed for both high school (Years 9-12) and university students interested in careers in technology.
Kicking off its sponsorship at the sold out University of the Sunshine Coast event in Queensland, TechnologyOne’s R&D Evangelist Kris Brown spoke to around 400 students about the best four reasons to get up in the morning. Mr Brown urged students to do something they’re passionate about and study or learn the skills needed to ensure they’re equipped for their dream jobs.
Mr Brown was joined by Graduate Developer Maggie O’Brien on stage, who discussed the steps she took to getting her current position at TechnologyOne and what inspires her most about her job.
TechnologyOne will continue its sponsorship of The BiG Day In™ in June 2016 at the Brisbane University of Queensland and Perth Town Hall events.
“Our goal in speaking to the students at The BiG Day In™ is to inspire them to pursue careers in the IT industry,” TechnologyOne Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco said.
“We believe young talent programs will be the foundation of the future of Australian ICT, which is why we continue to support events like these. It’s important that we actively foster a diverse and vibrant ICT industry, and create excitement around this exciting time in Australia’s economy to ensure we are engaging early with Australia’s youngest and brightest minds in STEM.”
Headquartered in Brisbane, TechnologyOne has made significant investment into the country’s expanding IT industry over the last 28 years. With a spend of more than 20% of revenue on R&D, TechnologyOne is delivering Australian-bred innovation to the IT sector.
TechnologyOne’s graduate program is now a leader in the Australian IT sector, each year employing at least 20 students into its R&D teams, as well as other key areas of the business. The company’s intern program was last year announced as one of Australia’s best intern programs in Interns Australia’s National Fair Internship Pledge (NFIP), setting the standard for interns nationally.
“We believe our expanding intern and graduate programs will continue as the foundation of our talent pipeline into the future,” Mr Di Marco said.
“As well as having a dedicated graduate and intern program, we endeavour to fill open positions in our R&D team with graduates, to provide every opportunity to inject new and fresh perspectives into our software development.
“Investment in STEM-qualified students and building local talent will propel the future of the technology industry, and will be vital to the advancement of Australia as a global leader in innovation. Technology will be the next most significant driving force, with pioneering technology solutions providing us with the best opportunity to compete on a global scale.”
