Technology One’s solution will replace an ageing legacy system operated by the Ministry of Finance and a number of smaller accounting systems operated by other Ministries. The deal was signed following a comprehensive tender process involving a number of multinational vendors.
Project Director Lusia Sefo Leau said the key reason for choosing Technology One was its experience in government.
“Technology One stood out as a best fit for the Samoan Government – the strength of its products and experience in Government gave us confidence that we could rely on the company’s experience to ensure a successful project,” Ms Sefo Leau said.
“The company is also committed to a long-term partnership with the Samoan Government which is critical as our nation continues to grow,” she said.
“The implementation of a fully integrated solution across all Government Ministries will ensure one source of financial data is used to support decision making, and allowing consistent, timely and reliable financial reports to be submitted to Parliament and Ministries management,” Ms Sefo Leau said.
“It will also allow the Samoan Government to streamline and standardise financial business process across the whole of government to enable a more effective and efficient operation.”
The Samoan Government employs over 6000 full time and part time staff to provide services to the country’s 180,000 inhabitants. Each Ministry is headed up by a Government Minister and controlled through a Chief Executive Officer. The Country operates through a democratically elected Parliament, with a Head of State and a Prime Minister.
Technology One Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco said the deal was a significant win for the company, as it highlighted the company’s strengths and experience in providing effective solutions for government.
“Technology One has a proven solution for Government, with over 140 Federal, State and Local Government departments in Australasia using Technology One’s solutions, including 90% of the Tasmanian Government,” Mr Di Marco said.
“We take total responsibility for the success of each and every client’s investment in our solutions, providing Government agencies with peace of mind and one-stop accountability.”
Technology One also provides fully integrated solutions to meet the specific requirements of other vertical markets, such as Higher Education and Universities, Retail, HR/payroll, Asset Intensive industries, Recruitment, Health and Financial Services.
“The experience we have gained in those markets provides a solution that other government specific systems can’t match,” Mr Di Marco concluded.
