Scottish Fire and Rescue saves £340,000 per year with TechnologyOne enterprise solution

The Scottish Fire and Rescue has improved back-office operating efficiencies and reduced Service Level Agreement and maintenance costs by more than £340,000 per year, following the implementation of TechnologyOne's OneFRS solution.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is a true mission critical organisation that relies on people, equipment and technology 24 hours a day. Its firefighters attend over 90,000 incidents each year and behind the scenes, the organisation manages an annual budget of £277M and over 9000 staff.  

SFRS was formed in April 2013 following the amalgamation of eight regional fire services into one national organisation. The organisation implemented TechnologyOne OneFRS in a rapid 11 month timeframe, to consolidate the regional fire services' various financial systems and processes. 

TechnologyOne's preconfigured solution provided SFRS with a proven practice template that enabled the fire service to become operational within the short timeframe.  

"The combination of such a flexible platform in TechnologyOne and a good team allowed us to get the system up and running on time and on budget," said SFRS Systems Manager Kerr McColl. 

"The Scottish Fire and TechnologyOne project team came together easily as all team members actively contributed. True partnership in action." 

Mr McColl said implementing an enterprise solution allowed the fire service to significantly reduce Service Level Agreements and maintenance costs and save time through automating reporting and transaction processes.   

"The TechnologyOne solution is a great fit for the organisation, which is really important," Mr McColl said.  

"Our users really like the system. They think it is intuitive and modern, and like the look and feel. Being able to consolidate all our financial information into one system has also significantly improved transparency and visibility."
