Scottish Association for Mental Health improves Financials with TechnologyOne

Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) has selected leading enterprise software provider TechnologyOne’s OneCommunity solution to support its internal finance operations.

SAMH has overhauled its financial, business intelligence and budgeting capabilities by implementing OneCommunity, an integrated enterprise solution that captures financial information in a single place, to track expenditure and provide dynamic reporting for real-time decision-making.

“The squeeze on funding from local authorities has resulted in a collective requirement for accountability at SAMH and intensified the need for timely, accurate and relevant information to control spend within the company,” said John Stoner, Head of Information Systems of SAMH.

“Our old finance system was outdated and labour intensive so we needed a new accounting mechanism that could be more flexible to our needs and most importantly make us efficiency savings.”

With TechnologyOne, SAMH now has better insight into its organisational performance, enabling it to lower its operating costs, improve decision making and gain more control on its spend.

“We looked at many big, ‘household name’ cloud providers, but TechnologyOne was selected for its experience in our sector,” said Catriona Ford, Financial Controller of SAMH.

“As a charity, our business model is quite complicated as we have many different revenue streams, so it was refreshing that TechnologyOne actually understood our needs and so far, the system and the service from the team has exceeded our expectations.”

Roger Phare, Operating Officer at TechnologyOne added: “TechnologyOne has a proven track record with charities and as such, our OneCommunity solution has built-in business processes specific to the not-for-profit sector, which reduce implementation time, costs and risk. With community-focused organisations needing to handle requirements such as individualised funding and Self Directed Support, full functioned solutions such as OneCommunity are really the only answer going forward.

“We were therefore a natural partner for the Scottish Association for Mental Health and are delighted to be helping it improve efficiencies, so it can instead focus its resources on helping the community.”
